Incredible Connection uses dirty advertising.

On the morning of the 13th of August 2020, I initiated a google search for a bridge camera. whist reviewing results I noticed an advert from Incredible Connection for a Canon Powershot SX540Hs Camera, priced at R2999.99 I then proceeded to add the item onto my cart with intention to purchase the following day. Upon my return to the Incredible Connection website “https://www.incredible.co.za/” with the intention to conclude my transaction, during the process of checking out, an error appeared on the screen starting “Some of the products are currently out of stock.” After careful inspection I then realized that I can not conclude my transaction due to this error. I then left the item in my cart over the weekend and contacted the online contact center this morning, the 17th of August 2020. I was told by the consultant that the item is indeed out of stock currently, but I can go to my nearest store and place an order so that when stock returns my unit will be secured. I immediately went to the incredible connection store in centurion (Centurion Mall) to inquiry further about the product. I was told that stock will return within two weeks, but I was not issued an order number and the staff member refused that I pay for the item as I have previously when ordering a product. After further review of the Canon Camera product lineup offered by incredible Connection, I now have reason to believe that Incredible Connection is using “bait Marketing” which contravenes THE CONSUMER PROTECTION ACT (CPA) In terms of section 30 of the Act, a supplier must not advertise any particular goods or services as being available at a specified price in a manner that may result in consumers being misled or deceived in any respect relating to the actual availability of those goods or services from that supplier, at that advertised price. Within a period of 48hours, it appears the item has sold out, off which I would like to request that Incredible Connection disclose the number of such units that were available at that price and how many were actually purchased as well. Failure to do so, I will formally lodge a complaint with the relevant advertising and consumer protection governing bodies. As of noon on the 17th of August 2020 Incredible Connection has removed the listing of the product (Canon Powershot SX540Hs) from google search and from their company website “https://www.incredible.co.za/”.
