Incorrect laptops supp**** and refusal to rectify it
My brother-in-law came from Zimbabwe in January to buy 2 laptops for his company. He had a printout of the specific laptops they needed. He went to Incredible Connection Mall of Africa and they told him they have 2, one being the display model and the other new. He was fine with the display model and they gave him a discount on it. He is not tech savvy so was relying on them to be honest and give him what he asked for. They assured him that they were the correct items. He paid for them (R33,300) and bought 2 laptop bags to minimize space usage in his car as he had a lot of other stuff to take back as well. The boxes were discarded and he went back to Zim. On opening the laptops and switching them on it was discovered that they were not what was asked for and neither of them was new, as the one (the supposedly new one) had a South African companies details on it and the other had over 1 gig of movies on it, which was supposed to have been cleaned up before he took them. He tried to call the store but failed to get hold of them, as the phones just rang. I tried as well from SA and had the same problem. I told him to send them back to me via courier and I would see what I could do. As we all know the situation in Zims is beyond terrible it took 3 weeks before I received them. By a stroke of luck I managed to get in contact with the store manager and explained the problem to him. He told me there was nothing they could do as the time frame was too long. I explained the situation in Zim to him and he then said that if they were not returned in the original boxes there was nothing he could do as he would not be able to sell them again. He overlooked the fact that they were the wrong laptops to begin with. I gave him my bro-in-laws phone number and told him to give him a call and explain that to him himself. He said he would have to ask for their phones to be unlocked for international calling first (he never called him). He told me to bring them in, which I did last Saturday (2nd March) and he would take it up with his bosses and then contact me in the week. Needless to say he did not contact me by Friday so I phoned him back (surprisingly the phone was answered). He said the boss refused to do anything about it and gave the same **** excuses as earlier. I told him again to contact my brother-in-law in Zim directly and was told he could not phone out of the country as their phones are blocked for international calls. Really!!!!! He said he could only call on WhatsApp, so I told him to do so. I have been in contact with my bro-in-law this morning and still he hasn't heard from the guy. They are now getting their lawyers involved as this downright theft. I have personally never bought anything from Incredible Connection before and because of this I never will. Their service is beyond pathetic.
