IC Ruins Christmas

I bought a laptop on special online, it said it would take 5 working days to deliver, I checked in everyday as this was a Christmas present and they assured me all was in order and to just wait, after a week they said no it was sold out and will have to refund me, refund took another week, so for 2 weeks they held my money so I was not able to buy a decent Christmas present, why take a week to tell me something is sold out? no compensation for their incompetence and when I complain in emails they just stop replying.
