Shocking Service from Imperial Toyota - Bryanston

Imperial Toyota- Bryanston, their service is pathetic and they tried to sell me a lower spec'ed car, and the lower spec'ed car will potentially now cost me an additional approximate R16,000.00 more.

I bought a Nissan NP200 from Imperial Toyota Bryanston in December of 2019 and everything was great until I took delivery of the vehicle.

It was at that stage when I realized they had misled me and tried to sell me the incorrect model.

According to the website, the quote and the bank finance contract (all was provided by Imperial Toyota), I was purchasing an NP200 16 P/U S/C A/C however, when I took, delivery I received the base model NP200 16 P/U S/C which didn't come with Aircon and hubcaps.

What added to my frustration was that I had originally enquired and was about to start the process to purchase a base model with another Imperial dealership. However, when I saw the advert for the A/C model at Bryanston, which was R20,000.00 above my budget, I canceled the purchase of the original base model. I did that because even though it was above my budget the deal advertised on the A/C model was in my opinion was better and I preferred to have the A/C.

So when I received the base model from the Bryanston branch I had effectively paid about R20,000.00 for the same base model car.

Initially, the salesperson as Bryanston was very helpful and when I offered two options to remedy the situation, option 1: reimburse me for the additional cost of the A/C model or Option 2: upgrade the base model to match the A/C model, the dealership decided to install the aircon at their cost which was great.

It took over two months and a lot of complaining by me to the dealership for the dealership to arrange the fitment of the A/C unit.

Also since December 2019, I was still waiting for the vehicle to be licensed and registered in my name at the Department. Which they charge R5,000.00 for what they call "on the road costs" to do this.

So it's February 2020, 2months since I bought the vehicle and I am still waiting for the A/C and the license and registration.

Eventually, the vehicle goes in for the A/C to be fitted (Mid February 2020) and while they have the vehicle I remind them about the Hubcaps as this is part of the upgrade to match the spec of the NP200 A/C model.

I get told, no they are not going to do the hubcaps, because that would, be additional costs over and above the A/C as the rims that come with the base model don't fit hubcaps so they would need to replace all 4 rims. I explained that that is not my problem because the car that I bought comes with hubcaps and they need to supply me with a vehicle that comes with hubcaps. This all falls on deaf ears and now if I want to put better rims on the vehicle I need to pay for it.

During all this, I tried to get hold of the dealer principal on numerous occasions but every time I call he/she is a meeting and never returns my calls.

While I was waiting for the A/C to be installed I enquire about the license and registration because I still haven't received that. I get told they are still waiting on the lic. and reg. but it should be done before I collect the car after the A/C install

Finally, on the 24th Feb, I receive the vehicle back and the aircon is installed -great- but I still have not received my license and registration.

On the 11th March, I had to again follow up on the Lic and Reg as two weeks prior they had told me they would be dropping off the number plates and registration.

I was then told that the roadworthy had expired so they had to again get Dekra to come and re-roadworthy the vehicle.

Which, Imperial did arrange, but the timing couldn't be worse because a few days later we entered lockdown.

Now I realize that lockdown was a no-ones fault and this would result in more delays beyond Imperials control which I am fine with, I understand it is a pandemic.

BUT IF THEY HAD JUST DONE THEIR JOBS PROPERLY IN THE FIRST PLACE, ALL THIS WOULD ALL HAVE BEEN AVOIDED!!!!!

So I keep my cool and patiently wait for the lockdown to be lifted so that I can get my lic and reg from Imperial and put this all behind me.

BUT GEUSS WHAT???

It's now the 7TH JULY 2020..... 8 MONTHS since I purchased the vehicle and I am STILL waiting for my Licence and Registration.

I have sent complaints and made phone calls to the Imperial Head Office and still, no one has gotten back to me about this.

I also found out today that the Bryanston dealership has been closed due to a couple of peope tested positive COVID so they can't help me.

I just want to say at this point......that I wish them all the best and that I pray they all make full recoveries, no one deserves that.

However, that's why I say this whole mess which is of Imperial Toyotas making is going to cost me about R16,,000.00 - New Rims to upgrade current rims that come with the base model - The "on the road" costs that I already paid for, that they will not be able to complete - The roadworthy that has probably expired now so I will have to get the car re-roadworthied again. - Cost of the Lic and Reg

Needless to say, if I could rate Imperial Toyota with a -1 star I would.
