Non-existent problems identified to make money
I had a service in July this year (230 000km), which cost around R10 000. On fetching the car, I was told that there was a problem with the intercooler, and the car required a complete engine overhaul. The quote given for this was R90 000. The brakes were squeaking terribly after this service, and i had to return the car to have something adjusted. I then also found that the service log book had not been signed off, and had to bring that back a week later to be signed off.

We decided to get a second opinion on the engine overhaul, and have just had the car checked. This was done by Rand Stadium Toyota. They found no such problem Over and above this, two fan belts needed to be replaced during this check, and it was actually the glow plugs in the engine that were the problem - none of this was picked up at the car service 2 months previously.

The staff at Imperial Toyota Randburg were adamant that an engine overhaul was needed. Had we gone with their advice, we would have spent R90 000 unnecessarily.

I do not trust the mechanics or staff at Imperial Toyota Randburg, and will not be using them again.
