Theft at Renault Roodepoort

In June I serviced my vehicle with Renault Roodepoort and had about R50 taken from the vehicle's ashtray. I reported this incident since I believed that any employer would appreciate the feedback and should be aware of the issue, just as I would appreciate being notified.

On Wednesday this week my vehicle was in for a warrantee repair and when my wife collected the vehicle she noticed that a pair of her prescription Vogue Sunglasses had been taken, along with a half-bottle of Calvin Klein eau de toilette and a Led Lensor torch which I kept in the car. I was especially unhappy about this because when I emptied the car on drop-off I told the person handling the service that these items were left inside and asked if this would be a problem and was told “they are perfectly safe”.

When the car was collected my wife reported that there had been a theft and was told that the matter would be looked into. Later that afternoon I called and asked for the Dealer Principle, Jaco told me that he himself would handle the matter and would call me back, but nothing has happened. I appealed to him to notify the SAP as the items were most likely sitting in an employee's locker / bag, but since I received no callback I presume that this wasn’t done and now they will likely not be found.

This is no small theft, it is brazen as the items are worth in excess of R5000 replacement value, even though the sunglasses are worthless to anyone other than my wife.
