Price Shocker!

After experiencing shudder problems coming back from Holiday in my Renault Duster I decided to take the vehicle to Renault Route 24 to check what the problem was. To my surprise I got a call from the service department to inform me that my clutch needs replacing. And that this will cost "ABOUT" R14 000.00. And that when they do the clutch the flywheel might need replacing as well and this will be "ABOUT" another R15 000.00. My Duster only has 69000kms on the clock. I had many vehicles and done over 150 000kms on the clock with no clutch issues. So, this doesn’t make any sense to me. The other strange thing is that they could not have properly checked the vehicle to aces what the problem was as this surely needs some more in-depth investigation to get to the clutch to ensure that the problem is the clutch. I also asked that if the clutch is replaced and the same problems arises what the process was. I was told then they will look for the fault further. Most probably at more costs..?

I think I am being taken for a ride here..phoned a couple of non-agents and they can do a new fitted clutch for R5000.00 and they state that you almost never replace a flywheel as this is normally just skimmed at a cost of about R1500.00.

How does Renault come up with these prices? Secondly why is my clutch finished on 69 000kms.

Renault, some answers please..?
