Sold a defect car and non existent after sales care at Honda Northcliff

I want to particularly express the absolute disappointment in the sale service provided to my mum by Lizelle and the branch manager, Khalid, as well as the after sale service relating to the patent defects that they failed to point out at the inspection of the vehicle after purchase but prior to delivery.

As regards the pre-sale service, whilst the sale was being processed and before it was registered, my mum enquired about purchasing a brand new vehicle instead of the 2016 demo model with 8000km on the clock and was blatantly and rudely told by Lizelle that the sale was finalised and the vehicle was registered already. This was a lie since the enquiry was made on 18 November 2016 and the registration date was 25 November 2016 only. It is clear that this lie was perpetuated in order to secure a sale and commission for Lizelle and the sales team and, in fact, constitutes misrepresentation. The brand new model was only R20 000.00 more than what she paid but they **** to her about the registration as well the apparent unavailability of a silver CRV. This is bad salesmanship for Honda and it is clear that they pawned off a defective vehicle on my mum.

Lizelle also tried to increase the price after the initial quote and when my mum refused to then purchase the car, she reverted to the old price.

Lizelle convinced my mum to purchase an unlimited maintenance plan and told her that it covered EVERYTHING except tyres and petrol. She failed to point out that wheel alignment was not covered.

On Tuesday, 13 December 2016 when my mum came in to see Lizelle and advise that the side panels of the vehicle were lose and that the vehicle was pulling to one side, instead of explaining to my mum that the panel was capable of being fixed in terms of the unlimited warranty, they rudely stated that it is a "second hand" vehicle and that it would cost R500 to replace the missing clips. The manager, Khalil, also rudely proclaimed that this was a used vehicle and that it was normal wear and tear.

Further, their contention that the vehicle was inspected by my dad and therefore there is nothing they can do is a load of nonsense and will not surpass the muster of the Consumer Protection Act. It was THEIR duty to point out the defects. My dad noted the scratches on the back of the vehicle as these were visible to the naked eye. That a 2016 demo model would have clips missing on the side panel is not something that lay person examine a vehicle for the purposes of taking delivery is expected to take notice of. It their duty to ensure that the vehicle was in mint condition upon delivery because what my mum purchased was what she thought was a flawless vehicle.

My mum took the car to the Honda dealership in Centurion and the service manager Theunis Botha verified that the side panels of the vehicle are lose from interference from your dealership when the tow bar was inserted AND not wear and tear as Honda Northcliff so claimed. Honda Northcliff is also refusing to fix the side panels despite the unlimited warranty!

This is afterall a 2016 Honda CRV with 8000km on the clock that my mum paid R330 000.00 for IN CASH!!

That is an exorbitant sum of money but it seems that all Honda Northcliff cared about was the sale and the commission.

The atrocious attitude showed to my mum 3 weeks after securing the sale was nothing shocking and left a bitter taste in everyone's mouth.

In terms of the Consumer Protection Act, my mum, as a consumer, has legal rights that she can enforce and she accordingly reserves her rights to approach the Consumer Protection Ombudsmen in the event that there are further patent and latent defects that arise on the vehicle of which they failed to advise.

In fact, their Honda branch missed out on sales for 3 potential vehicles as myself, my dad and my mum's brother were all interested in purchasing Honda's from their dealership. After the rotten after sales service, we have decided to find another car brand to purchase from.

Today, 20 December 2016, we now discovered that there was a massive oil shortage in the car causing further issues for us.
