Using fineprint to not pay a claim

My vehicle broke down in early morning traffic, the water pump broke, and I called my mechanic, who told me to have it towed to a BMW agent as they were the best people to fix it. I did so, had the repair done and paid R10 000 for the pleasure. When I tried to claim from iMPAC, I got the following response:

5.3 You are not covered for the following with regards to your vehicle: 5.3.3 Repairs that have not been authorised by us. 6.4 The repairing dealer must establish the nature of the breakdown and must contact the Claims Office for authorisation before proceeding with the repairs. Repairs cannot start unless the Claims Office has given authorisation, and their claim authorisation number in writing.

I am unsure why I need AUTHORISATION to have my vehicle fixed so that I can continue with my life? I PAID for this warranty policy, they are not doing me a favour! Instead they are using fine print to not pay out my very valid claim.

If your vehicle salesman tries to convince you to take a policy with them, DON'T!!!

I have contacted my attorney to deal with this in terms of the Consumer Protection Act
