Raw deal from IMM GSM

Mine is not an experience per se.I wrote 11 subjects in 2011 and passed them all.Now I want to continue with my studies and I'm being told I have to start afresh.I don't know how can my qualification expire within this period? This information on expiration of studies is not readily available, unlike UNISA which is 8 years.This is totally unfair considering how expensive it is to study.

Good afternoon

Our records show that you commenced your programme in 2010. You wrote 4 modules in 2010 and then 7 in 2011. There were no further registrations during 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 or 2017.

As per UNISA, we also have an 8 year period for students to complete their Diploma studies. Unfortunately your study period ended in 2017.

I have asked one of our staff members to contact you to clarify further.

Well, not sure what you mean here. I wrote my last subjects in 2011 right? So if its 8 years, then my study period is meant to expire in 2019? I have evidence that I was informed on the 6th of June 2017 that my study period had already lapsed?

Good morning. The programme which you registered for has been replaced with a new programme, and all students who were on the old programme were transferred to the new programme, with the time of the old programme expiring in 2016, and the student's specific expiry date expiring 8 years after they commenced your studies. I will request that our Registrations Officer contact you to assist further.

Wow. I get a call to tell me that I cannot get to continue or get exemptions to continue because they phased out the old Diploma. Phasing out the old Diploma is no fault of mine and I was within the 8 years. Surely IMM can make justifiable concessions unless this is just a money making venture where you dont have a human touch ? Can I take this up with a relevant government body?
