Its all about money
I was very excited to join IMM as I cone to understand they are a very reputable school of business and came highly recommended by industry colleagues. However when life happened, found myself unexpectedly unemployed and having to cancel my registration with IMM my experience with them drastically changed from very good and engaging to down right shocking.
I registered late in Febraury with IMM, as someone self funded I requested a payment schedule and I made my first payment in Feb, then second one was in March. So in March my contract of employment was ended and not renewed and I have been unemployed ever since. I made a payment of R7000+ in those two months. I app**** to deregister and had to apply for a refund. It took a few days to cancel my registration. It's clearly stated in the application fee that 10%of what you paid will be retained by the school.
It took 2 months for me to get my refund. My emails where ignored by finance people, the person I delt with was Ra-ina and she would just go MIA on emails. I had to get my course consultant involved for her to even process the refund. After the long wait and having to beg for my refund. I only get refunded R3000 and given a one page "student account page" with a lot of charges which were never communicated before. I still till now do not understand why is cancellation not 10% anymore which should have been R700+ but now I have installment fees, new student fees, registration, application fees and I would take it those will be deemed as "non refundable". So I was only refunded R3030. So R4000+ was retained by IMM for administration basically? Does that make any sense?
It feels like the institution is just about making money nothing else. Even their treatment changed when they wanted money from being very nice to rude. Taking any opportunity possible to retain the money.
Dealing with them regarding money very frustrating and obviously all for profit. Nothing else.
I am very sad. I wanted to study with them further but their accounts department is disgusting to say the least. Keeping poor peoples money is ********* as far as I am concerned.

I can respond at this point in time to say that the refundable amount is calculated at the time when a student cancels his or her studies. If a student submitted an assignment, and then cancels the studies, then the amount refunded is less as the marking fee is deducted. The amount refunded is thus not the fees which were paid less 10%, but depending on when a student cancels, then normally a maximum of 50% is refunded.
Certain fees are not refundable such as the "The New Student Registration Fee" and the "Semester Fee". These fees total R2,225-00.
