Corporate ********, only out for your money
I’m Severely disappointed by the service offered by this institution
I missed an exam on the 22/10/20 due to a reoccurring ear infection that was caused by an injury I had sustained last year, I also submitted a verifiable medical certificate
I called the institution days later to inform them that I couldn’t write my online assessment due to my injury and I was advised to cancel my module in order to qualify for a supplementary that’s pending the approval by some IMM committee
Thereafter I waited for 3 weeks without any feedback from the institution when I called them to ask for feedback I was told that at IMM you have to be hospitalized in order for you to qualify to write an exam
This is when I realized that this fly by night policy of being hospitalized before writing a special exam is a profit seeking trick that seeks to fail students so that they can re-enrol for the same modules the following academic year
IMM has been disappointing, honestly expected much from this institution, they told me that they cannot communicate with me because my account was in arrears, when I went to their Joburg office the staff made a Mockery out of my query calling in each other to gang up on me with some reaffirmations about the schools policy
I can only say Enter IMM at the risk of losing your tuition money due to some policies that won’t allow you to write an exam even if you were sick, they will tell you that you must have been in a covid infested hospital before they can grant you a special exam, I tried even explaining to the head of appeals that I cannot go to hospital coz I live with someone affected by Down’s syndrome and the respiratory challenges that come with it, but they were having none of my explanations,
I truly feel ****med by the institution, had I known I would have invested the money by wits business school or Stadio business school.
IMM has shunned the practice of submitting medical certificate when a student is sick, you have to be hospitalized first, I wonder if their employees are sick will they reject their medical certificate on the basis that they were not hospitalized ?
IMM is a ****, just realized after paying so much money.

Many thanks for your patience as we investigated your complaint.
The IMM Graduate School acknowledges that you submitted a special cancellation application due to an ear infection. As per the supplementary policy, which is available to all students via their eLearn portal, and which is agreed to upon registration by all students, the policy clearly states the following:
2.2 MEDICAL SUPPLEMENTARY FINAL ASSESSMENTS:
The following students are eligible for the medical supplementary final assessments:
• If hospitalised during a final assessment AND
• The medical note specifically states that the student was hospitalised and not fit to complete a final assessment AND
• The medical note specifically states that the student was hospitalised and not fit to complete a final assessment AND
• The final assessment date/s must be covered by the hospital documentation AND;
• The medical note must have an original signature and an original stamp AND;
• The student submitted assignment/s and the average mark for assignment/s is at least 50%. (If only one assignment was required for the module, the mark achieved must be 50% and above.)
Whilst reviewing your special cancellation application, it was noted, that you wrote examinations on the 21st, 26th and 29th of October, and that the medical certificate was time-stamped for the 22nd of October, 14:47 - which was 6 hours after the start of the examination. The examination session for this module commenced at 08H00.
Taking these factors into consideration, your special cancellation request was approved and in line with the policy, a portion of the fees was returned to your student account. It is to be noted that the special cancellation committee meets at least 10 days after the last day of the examinations, to give all students who wished to apply for a special cancellation the opportunity to make their cancellation submissions. This is a time-consuming process, as we review each and every application individually and give it the attention it deserves. Students are required to submit their original documentation to their nearest regional office within 10 days of the final assessment date and this then adds additional days to the application process.
Taking these factors into consideration, your special cancellation request was approved and in line with the policy, a portion of the fees was returned to your student account. It is to be noted that the special cancellation committee meets at least 10 days after the last day of the examinations, to give all students who wished to apply for a special cancellation the opportunity to make their cancellation submissions. This is a time-consuming process, as we review each and every application individually and give it the attention it deserves. Students are required to submit their original documentation to their nearest regional office within 10 days of the final assessment date and this then adds additional days to the application process.
Regardless of a student’s financial position, the IMM Graduate School continues to academically support our students with absolutely no restrictions placed on access to any of the academic resources. Due to your account being in arrears of R3,590.00 only your results were withheld, of which you were notified on the 6th, 12th, and 17th of November via SMS. We can confirm that these SMS's were received by both your registered contact numbers.
The National Registrations Officer met with you and your guest at the IMM Graduate School Milpark office. She explained the reason why you were not awarded a supplementary final assessment, but that a portion of your funds had been refunded to your student account, as per the special cancellation policy. You advised the National Registrations Officer that the receptionist had advised you, that you qualified for a supplementary final assessment. You were advised that the receptionist was in the office and that she would be called into the meeting to advise on your statement. The receptionist stated in the meeting that she advised you that the application will be reviewed and they would advise IF you qualify for a supplementary final assessment, to which you agreed to that statement. At no point were you ganged up on, and your query was taken very seriously.
The National Registrations Officer did however, end the meeting abruptly, due to you and your guest’s choice of language, aggression towards her, and elevated pitch at which you were speaking to her. This conduct will never be accepted, nor condoned under any circumstances.
The National Registrar who reviewed your special cancellation application advised that at no point did you mention that you lived with a high-risk person in your communications with her. The IMM Graduate School is very strict with the application of COVID-19 government-regulated protocols, and would never put anyone at risk, however, saying that, you could also contract COVID-19 at your doctor’s office.
After careful review, the special cancellation policy, in relation to the supplementary final assessment, will be enforced, and the funds have been returned to your student account.
Kindly settle your remaining balance so that we can have your results released to you.
