Bad Service and unprofessional
Wrote my exams in SA with the IMM as a permit holder but due to their lack of knowledge failed to release my results saying that my temporary resident work permit could not allow me to receive results after writing my exams.<br> I have been following up for my results over a 12 month period to the point were my permit expired and was renewed and to no avail.<br> I eventually asked to speak to the registrar Lin Berry in Durban who showed no emotion and bluntly told me that my papers were not marked hence no results. This was against the policy of the South African government's policy on temporary residents who want to study in SA.<br> I fail to understand why I have to re-register again and write the same modules when the law is clear and a sheer disregard of my personal financial situation and the effort that goes into studying.<br> IMM needs to improve and be knowledgeable of the law and have utmost respect for its students, who make the institution what it is today.<br> Frustrated student is what I am at the lack of customer service.

There seems to be some miscommunication which has taken place along the way. In terms of Home Affairs regulations, the IMM Graduate School was not allowed to register students with a work permit - it had to be a study permit as we are a distance learning institution. It seems as if the staff member whose name you cannot recall did not explain this in detail. This Home Affairs regulation was changed last year (2015) and work permits are now allowed.
Ms Berry has no choice but apply the regulations as they stand.
Having said this, I believe there is a solution without requiring you to re-register and re-write. We will look into these options in terms of the new Home Affairs regulations and provide feedback by Monday next week.
