Utter disguisting Manners
I often go for peaceful walks in Blaauwberg, followed by a relaxing coffee at Illy Lighthouse Coffee Garden with my family and friends. Just over a month ago, I had a coffee from Illy, enjoying the serene atmosphere. But last Sunday, everything changed. I bought a coffee and a croissant from "On the Rocks Coffee" for my disabled brother and myself, intending to enjoy a quiet breakfast with the breathtaking view at Illy Lighthouse Coffee Garden. We were still savoring our meal when suddenly, Jerry, the owner, stormed over to us, his face twisted in anger. "We have a problem," he snapped. Confused, I asked what the issue was, and his response was nothing short of shocking. He told me that this was private property, and that we were not allowed to purchase from a competitor and sit there. To my disbelief, he claimed this was the third time he had seen me, which was a blatant lie. Feeling stunned, I apologized and said we were leaving. But instead of letting us go quietly, Jerry’s response was cold and harsh. "You’re leaving now that you’re finished?" he spat, as if we were ********s. I nodded and began to walk away, but then, in an unbelievable display of aggression, Jerry shouted—loud enough for the entire cafe to hear—“Pinky, get the F... out of here and don’t come back!” I stood frozen, my heart racing. I was humiliated, mortified—this man had just publicly berated me in front of a packed café. And to add insult to injury, he called me "Pinky" because of the pink Totalsports Women's Walk Top I was wearing. My brother, visibly rattled, followed me as I hurried out, his trembling hands reflecting the shock of the entire encounter. That moment will haunt me. The cruelty, the complete lack of professionalism, the venom in his words—it was beyond anything I could have imagined. This man, who should be fostering an environment of warmth and respect, is nothing short of rude, condescending, and utterly obnoxious. I cannot fathom how someone with such utter disrespect for others is allowed to run a business.
