Planning a special evening? Then DON'T consider Il Tartufo Ristorante in Hyde Park as an option.
I bought a Hyperli voucher for a 4 course dinner with wine pairing for myself and my boyfriend's anniversary on the 26th of January. The same day I made a reservation via email (as per instructions on the Hyperli voucher) for Saturday, 17th of February. The Manager, Luyanda, confirmed the reservation via email.
To our disappointment my boyfriend and I arrived at Ill Tartufo Ristorante in Hyde Park (From Pretoria East) only to find that the restaurant is closed and that only the manager is at the restaurant, who confirmed that they do not have any reservation for that day. I went through my emails and he admitted that the confirmation was sent by himself, he was very apologetic and advised that he will move this to the following Saturday, 24th of February - but that we do not need to leave any details as he will get back to us first thing and he has our details in the email trail.
The following week after my third follow up email, he informed me that they are still not up and running as yet and that he would like to give us the following two options: 1) Refund the money that was paid for the voucher (R699) 2) Il Tartufo will arrange a food and wine pairing at another restaurant for us
I requested the refund on the same day, and haven't heard anything from them since. My boyfriend called the restaurant, they provided him with Luyanda's contact number, after numerous attempts he is still not getting through to Luyanda. I've also sent numerous emails and reviewed the restaurant on Facebook.
This is honestly very poor service and I don't recommend to have a special evening at this restaurant.
Still waiting for the refund.
