BEWARE of Mr FRANCOIS KRIEL owner of IKUSASA LE AFRIKA CONSTRUCTION CC

<p>On 19 July 2016, I paid a 60% deposit amounting to R3,950.00 to Ikusasa Le Afrika Construction CC (Mr Francois Kriel’s company) for the construction of pillars on a balcony at my private house.</p> <p> </p> <p>On 9 August 2016, Mr Francois Kriel missed an onsite visit. The onsite visit was scheduled to take place on the premises with another fence contractor that was engaged to provide fencing for the pillars that Mr Francois Kriels’ company was to construct.</p> <p> </p> <p>On 15 August 2016, Mr Francois Kriel was asked in writing to construct the pillars as a matter of urgency. Neither Mr Francois Kriel nor his company rep**** to the email.</p> <p> </p> <p>On 5 September 2016, Mr Francois Kriel was asked in writing to provide a date for the commencement and completion of the construction of the pillars. Neither Mr Francois Kriel nor his company rep**** to the email.</p> <p> </p> <p>On 9 September 2016, Mr Francois Kriel was again asked in writing to provide a date for the commencement and completion of the construction of the pillars. Neither Mr Francois Kriel nor his company rep**** to the email.</p> <p> </p> <p>On 13 September 2016, I contacted Mr Francois Kriel per telephone and referred to the several attempts above to obtain a response from him and or his company. I informed him to reply to my emails within 2 days giving me an indication when the work for the pillars would commence and be completed. I stated that failure to do so would be viewed as a cancellation of the contract by him. Neither Mr Francois Kriel nor his company rep**** in writing to my request as per the telephone call.</p> <p> </p> <p>On 20 September 2016, Mr Francois Kriel was informed by me in writing that given the fact that he has not responded to date, I viewed that the contract was cancelled by his company and that he should refund me the 60% deposit that I had paid to his company and for which no work was done.</p> <p> </p> <p>To date, Mr Francois Kriel’s company has not paid back the money.</p> <p> </p> <p>In addition to the above we have had several other unpleasant dealings with Mr Francois Kriel himself which includes but are not limited to:</p> <p>· A refusal by Mr Francois Kriel to place things he says in writing (despite a written request for him to do so)</p> <p>· Constructing scaffolding immediately and perform only the work weeks thereafter – this is after putting us under immense pressure to pay the deposit within 24 hours to ensure work can get done;</p> <p>· Dumping of building materials (sand / stones) not requested on the premises</p> <p>· Telephone calls on weekends in an aggressive manner</p> <p>· Focussed more on obtaining a deposit than performing the work</p>
