Concerned Parent
I am writing this deeply aggrieved by the experience I was confronted with at iKidz Pre-School. My daughter who turned 3 years in February, started at this pre-school this year. Everything was okay. The teacher (Johanna) was loving, patient, nurturing and supportive. She was also good at standing her ground with the kids. Earlier in September my little one was moved to the “big class”, as she was pleasingly progressing and developing well. She was the advanced to Bianca’s class. I have observed on numerous occasions Bianca’s impatience and shouting with the other kids before. My daughter would come home teary and tell me that Bianca was shouting at her. I consequently raised my concerns with her, where she initially denied but later promised to calm down. However, the environment became more and more cold for my daughter as she would come home unhappy with the treatment. I had a meeting with Pedro and Ouma to address my concerns. Ouma was very defensive and dismissive of my concerns, citing points that Bianca has a high-pitched voice and long service with them. We subsequently agreed that my daughter be taken back to the old class (Johanna). I was happy with the decision. However, shortly after I left the pre-school for work, I received a call from Pedro who informed me that a decision was made to remove my daughter from the school. This came as a surprise for me as I had just left their premises with a resolution. I am greatly dismayed and disgusted by the way this issue was handled by them. So, if a parent is disgruntled and raises a concern, your kid gets kicked out???
