Unexplained Letter of Demand

I received a letter of demand from IHS Property Management claiming that I owe them money from back when I was still a student. I have not received any communication prior to the letter of demand stating that I owe them money and or explaining what the money is for. I have contacted them many times with the hope of receiving some clarity and possibly making payment arrangements but each time my call gets transferred to their accounts department there is no response.
