R5500 holdback on deposit

Where to start! This is not the first time me and my wife had a gut-wrenching experience with IHS. But thoroughly and psychologically defeated each time we just accepted since we were bound to a contract. Well we had enough.

We are clean decent people that left our flat in De velde estate in a more than decent and cleaned state after staying there for a year and 3 months. Even the guy ( Dylan ) doing the outgoing inspection commented on how good the condition was and that usually the flats were in quite a state when people moved out. The law states that a deposit should be refunded in no less that 7 working days and we were informed that IHS would only refund it after 21 days. Defeated we accepted and waited. Today we got a statement that totalled a deduction of R5500 +/_ for cleaning and repairs. NOT ONE APPLAINCE was broken! The walls had some cleaning to be done since people lived there for a year an 3 months! Not even if they absolutely had to paint everything would it cost R5000 to repaint for a 120 square meter apartment!!!!

This company is Horrid! DO NOT EVER RENT FROM THEM!!! unless you like being thoroughly disappointed!..

Many other things have through the year gone wrong, including a R400 water bill because of a broken geyser that leaked and after notifying them took 14 days to fix. We were stuck with the water bill...

including advertising the flat for R7300 and then 2 days before we had to move in (we moved from Pretoria and because the flat was furnished we sold most of our appliances to lighten our move) informed us that that was a mistake and that we would no longer get the flat at that price. So basically a big " I'm sorry that you sold all your things, please go and F&*^K yourself...unless you pay us more. Which we had no choice to do.

If you are looking for flats in De Velde estate. they are regularly at least a R1000 cheaper than IHS will ask.

I'm am so angry and feel that know this company will really be bad for you.

We are not rich folk but right now I am so angry that I just don't care how much it will cost to get a lawyer let this horror of a company know that they just cant walk over everyone!
