Ignite trying to claim covid extension fees from clients
I took out a 1 year contract for R620, then covid happened and gyms closed. So the option was either u pay continue and they add months to ur membership. Or freeze don't continue don't pay. I didn't want to continue. Before January I was already couldn't gym before the gym closed and I was being debited which isn't fair. I assumed my contract would be complete. I went to gym the 4th to ask to I still have a membership they said yes I found this weird. I then called because I wanted to cancel or query that my gym membership is still active, the receptionist said she would get the manager to call me. I waited a while week and no manager contacted me I called again and a new receptionist told me that 4 months has been added to my membership because of the covid freeze. I was shocked and asked to speak to the manager eventually a manager called me to tell me my cancelation fee is R1160 I said that's fine let me pay she told me but I had to warn a month ago so I need to pay R620 for Feb... In total this would be 4 months worth of payment they get for free. I'm furious because of covid clients are being ****** to stuck into a contract as if u owe the gym something. I'm disgusted. The cancelation fee sounds even ridiculous cause u out of scope of ur initial contract.
