Ignite Fitness Refuses to Cancel Subscription After Cancelling In Trial Period

The team at the gym was helpful at first, told me I can trial it first for 5 days and if I don't like the experience I can cancel with no questions asked. I cancelled and was told I need to hand in a letter of why I'm cancelling, I wrote up a letter, handed it in at the gym, e-mailed them a copy and sent another digital copy to one of the gym team members. They said they were sad to see us go but understand and won't charge us anything. First month went by and I thought the money was put back into my account for the sign up fee we initially paid and left it there. The next month I some how missed that yet another amount came off my account. Now it's the third month since we signed up and I contacted the gym again to hear what was going on, I spoke to the gym team member again that initially showed us around as well as one of the managers. The assured me that the debit order has been cancelled and I must just talk to my bank. I talked to my bank and they reversed the two newest amounts that came off my account and I'm still in a long battle to get the third one reversed - nevermind the signing up fee that I'm uncertain about ever being paid back. I then got a call from the head accountant at Ignite Fitness asking me why the debit order isn't going through, I then explained to him that I never agreed to the subscription and that I handed in cancellation forms. I also directed him to the team member that had the forms in their possession. I contacted that member again and they said that they printed it out again and handed it over to the relevant parties. The month isn't even finished yet and yet another amount came off my account and this time they increased the fee! I contacted the team member again and they could not explain why these amounts are still coming off my account. Not to mention that I have to pay reversal fees for every amount to my bank to correct their mistakes. This has been one of the worst customer experiences I've had to date, I would strongly advise anyone against trying out Ignite Fitness. And if you're already a member and want to quit... Goodluck...

Hi there Seth.

Our humble apologies that you received such bad service from us in 2019. We also apologise that no one has gotten back to you on your review since then.

Both are completely out of line and we take full responsibility for that. We are getting our house in order, and whilst that is no excuse for what happened to you a few years back, we are trying to ensure it doesn't happen again.

We are a growing company that is wanting to create a great member experience for all concerned.

Thank you for your review as it highlights the type of company we certainly didn't start out to be. We will do better!

Our apologies once again.

The Ignite Team.
