Ignite Fitness Menlyn Steer Clear

The Ignite Fitness in menlyn is a shambles. When I first joined a year ago, I noticed that a lot of the equipment was in bad shape. Most of the cable equipment does not have any markings as to their weights. You just kind of figure out after a while that one stack equals 5kg and then you have to count stacks every time you go to a new machine. Not awful but after a whole year they have done absolutely nothing to fix such a simple issue as weights not being labelled? Not really acceptable.

Then the parking. A big pull for me to join Ignite Fitness in Menlyn was the fact that they covered your parking ticket. That was a part of the promotional material even up until last week. Now without any prior warning they are having members pay their own parking. That adds up to an additional R200 a month, maybe more for some people. Their reason being that Menlyn Centre Management revoked their ability to hand out parking tickets. Fair enough but I didn’t sign a contract with Menlyn Centre Management to cover my parking. I signed with Ignite under the promise of free parking, reliable equipment, and a “health” bar which does not exist but is also still a part of their promotional material on the Ignite Fitness Website. Most likely to dupe people into signing up.

If you’re considering signing up for a gym, I would really recommend another gym. If you can afford an extra R100-R150 a month there are much better options on the market for you.
