Ignite Fitness failure to be transparent.

I began my membership at Ignite fitness sometime June 2019 till my contract ended on July 2020, roughly 4,5 months after Lock down. Around September when gyms began welcoming back clients, I received a call about my membership and whether I would still be coming into gym. I rep**** to the agent, no and to have my membership cancelled since I wouldn't be joining back. They offered me 3 months of free access which I denied because I wasn't going back to the gym.

It's March 2021 and I'm told to have been in arrears for being a member by authority of a system that auto-renews contracts without consenting of account holder.

Unbeknownst to me, I've never received notification of whether my membership was to be renewed or not, and here I now am with an amount of apparently R1600 in arrears.

Hi there Karabo.

Our humble apologies regarding the service you have received from us. Due to an error in our systems, it seems like you were not issued with an auto renew SMS which would have told you that your contract will auto renew.

We have rectified this issue on our system and your current balance is now R0.00.

Terribly sorry for the inconvenience once again. Thank you for bringing it to our attention so that we can improve on our customer service.
