Ignite Fitness and VVM Debt Collection – A ****?
I am extremely disappointed with Ignite Fitness and their ********* business practices. I was a member of the Randburg branch, which they officially closed on October 1, 2024. I received an email from them confirming that all contracts linked to this branch would be automatically canceled, and no further membership fees would be deducted.
Despite this, I started receiving SMS notifications from VVM debt collectors, claiming that I owed R1,040.80 to Ignite Fitness. These messages contained my full name, surname, and ID number, which was alarming. When I checked the VVM portal, I was required to enter my ID number, raising serious concerns about how they obtained my personal details.
Out of concern, I initially arranged weekly EFT payments based on what a VVM consultant told me. However, every phone number provided by VVM and Ignite Fitness either did not work or went unanswered. Additionally, all my emails to Ignite Fitness bounced back with an "Address Not Found" error.
It seems Ignite Fitness operates by opening a branch in a new area, collecting as many members as possible, and then shutting down the location while still attempting to collect payments through aggressive debt collection tactics. This is completely unacceptable! If they confirmed that all contracts were canceled, why are they harassing former members and demanding payment?
I strongly believe this is a **** and urge others to be cautious before signing up with Ignite Fitness. If you have received similar demands from VVM, do not pay without verifying the legitimacy of the claim directly with Ignite Fitness—although good luck getting hold of them!
