Do not visit the Somerset West branch! They **** you to sign up and the service is horrible!

I joined Ignite Fitness in January 2022 in Somerset West.

When signing up I was told the aircon was being fixed and should be operational within 2 weeks. The heat was unbearable and there was no ventilation.

After starting there I realized they did not all bother with ANY covid regulations and that the music was so loud I could not even use my earphones to cancel the noise.

I started going to the gym around 05:00 in the morning as the heat was unbearable and complained several times at reception. The staff kept saying everyone complains and they do not know when it will be fixed.

I eventually stopped going and decided to cancel my membership. I sent the first email on 29 May and got a response only on the 13th of June after many calls and follow-up emails. I was sold a contract under false pretense and misled that they will fix the aircon.

I was then told to pay a cancelation fee of R1890.

I have decided to challenge this as I was misled and now 2 months later the issue is still not resolved and I am not getting sms's that they want to hand me over.

I am horrified by the service, conditions, and ethics of this gym. I should have checked hello peter before signing up as I see there are 1000ds of complaints.

Can you urgently contact me to resolve this matter as your "retention team leader" has no idea how to respond to customers?

Do not fall victim to this company.

Hi James,

Due to the nature of our business and the unforeseen prospects of operating systems, We may, from time-to-time experience downtime.

The issues mentioned below were resolved a long time ago, and as mentioned before, none of the issues you mentioned constitutes a material breach of the agreement.

Facility down downtime can always be expected. Therefore, a cancellation fee is a fair outcome of an early contractual cancellation request.
