DISGUSTED BY IGNITE

During 2020 when the Covid-19 outbreak happened and the country went into lockdown I decided to cancel my membership at Ignite Greenacres in Port Elizabeth and I did so a month in advance because that was what was required and written in the contract. I sent an email stating that I am canceling my membership. I kept receiving calls in late 2020 from debt collectors that my account was handed over to them because of arrears I was shocked as that did not make any sense because I had cancelled my membership and then eventually a lady from Ignite offices called and asked that I forward her the email and I did exactly that and then I stopped receiving calls from Ignite as well as the debt collectors. My mother was paying for this membership and even during the time when I cancelled the membership they would randomly deduct money from her account.

In 2022 I decided to open a new membership in Cape Town under my own name as a student paying for myself and it was a success. In June I had to freeze my account because I was going home for recess and had to pay a R200 freeze payment , I did so and submitted the form and my form went through. In July money gets deducted from my account and I am confused as to how that is possible when I froze my account. I came back in August and went to the gym and I have no access to the gym facilities and I ask why. The guy who helped me with my freeze form is also confused as to what is happening and opens up my account to see what is happening so he see that I am in arrears and doesn't understand how that is possible because he can see that I've been paying my membership and says he'll call head office to find out what is going on. These arrears are of money that doesn't even show what the money is for even the Headquarters don't know what the money I owe is owed for what.

A week goes by and nothing happens and I go back and he calls Headquarters again and states this issue AGAIN , and again they find nothing so they ask about my other membership that I had in Port Elizabeth and I tell them and they say I must forward the emails and I do exactly that. The response I get from a lady named Nosipho is unbelievable and clearly shows she hasn't even read the emails forwarded to her because her reply isn't satisfactory.

Fast forward to today this morning I wake up to a bank deduction from Ignite which doesn't make sense because debit orders are deducted on the 1st of every month. Bare in mind that I've been paying my membership fees through all of this happening and I haven't received any help. Instead I get an ************ SMS that I must pay or I will face legal action , I am definitely not going to be intimidated by them. At this point I want to cancel my membership because clearly they don't want to help me yet they want to continue deducting money from my account.
