WeFix, from bad to good and some tips for when you book your phone in

I don't generally write reviews, bad or good, but this is a unique case I would say. My first encounter with WeFix was quite bad at first. The salesman booked my Samsung S8 in and gave me a job card to sign. I asked what the price was and he pointed at the bottom of the page, R3499. I was happy as this was less than the website price of R3800. I left my phone with them and went about my shopping.

About 30 min later I get a mail to say this is the official quote and that the price is now R3899 after the technician I presumed inspected it. I went back to them to ask, why has the price changed as I booked everything in, with the assumption I am only going to pay R3499. To get to the point, the price you get on the job card is an estimate quote and that you can decline but they will require an assessment fee.

At that moment I lost it as I felt that this salesman and WeFix just conned me. The salesman did not explain anything as to what procedure would follow and that it is simply an estimate, no customer service at all, nor that labor and other things like a fix kit will be added to the quote. I had to ultimately accept as the phone had to be repaired.

This is where the bad turns to the good. It took two weeks, which is quite some time, but a lot better than your network providers that take 3 Months to fix a phone. I went to fetch my phone this morning as I got an SMS every day, saying we are still waiting for the parts and then finally you can come and collect. Got to the counter and a Mr. Mohamed, was very friendly and helped me quite quickly, showing everything and doing every screen test possible. He was also very patient while I did my own tests to ensure that all is working as it should. My fingerprint scanner had an issue and all was working again when they quickly ran some tests. Overall the experience is not too bad, customer service from a certain individual is lacking but other than that I would recommend them for Samsung screen repairs.

Some Tips: They give you an estimate on the job card after they have booked it in, best be to get a quote immediately (assessment fees will be charged) Ask every possible question regarding the process. They add extra fees, like labor and other kits used to fix the screen ( I was not told this upon booking the phone in ) The salesmen/women are not technicians and your phone will go for an assessment, your quote will most likely change. (Be ready to drive back to the mall if you don't accept the quote) Once you receive your phone back, do your own test. Like fingerprint scanner test, button tests, call test and camera test. Check phone for any cracks or damage when you book your phone in and when picking it up.
