weFix does not fix, they broke
I took my iPhone 5s 32GB to get a simple battery replacement on the 27 of March 2018 at the special rate of R249. The battery was replaced. However, when I got home and realised my Touch ID was no longer working I returned the phone to the store the next day, 28th of March. At this time, the manager also pointed out that the screen was burnt out to me, which was a surprise and something I was surprised I might have missed, as I am convinced this was not the case. On handing in the phone again, the salesperson started performing checks in front of me, which were never carried out the first time! The technician had only noted the faults when he started the battery replacement on the 27th and it was also noted that the phone was "dead on arrival" and thus could not be fault checked beforehand. I also did not sign their terms of service at that time as well, since their printer was "broken". It is a case of what happened to my phone between me handing it in and the technician replacing the battery. On the 29th of March, I returned and collected my phone as I needed it for work, but still no decision about the faults after repair were made as the regional manager would only return after the Easter weekend. At this time, the manager also reviewed camera footage, with myself, my wife and a salesperson present, where it was noted that I used Touch ID when changing my phone's passcode for the salesperson and that I did not turn the phone off when handing it in (I simply turned the screen off before handing it to the salesperson, as it takes several seconds and swiping to turn the phone off). On Monday 2 April, I returned again to hand in my phone, and loaned and repaired my wife's old 5s screen and battery, at considerable expense now, to have a phone to use while weFix "assessed" my phone. If I was after a free screen replacement, or new button, why would I spend thousands to now just get another phone working? The old iPhone is in good condition now, however. As at 6 April, action has still not be taken to admit they did not follow procedure and return my phone in the condition I know it was in before changing the battery: that is, with working Touch ID and an un-burnt screen. As a business owner myself, I would have expected this to be top priority but weFix has not fixed my phone promptly. It took only 3 hours to replace the screen and battery of my wife's old phone, yet to simply get my issue handled has now taken a week, at which point I am forced to start elevating this complaint as emails and phone calls have not resolved it. As correct procedure was not followed, it is weFix's responsibility to return to me my phone in the condition it was in before I had the battery replaced. I can only warn, caution and ward off anyone taking their phone to be fixed by weFix!
