Quick to take your money, then excuses when things go wrong

I had 2 issues with my phone:

1. I couldn't get the data off my old phone to synch to iTunes because of a strange password/encryption issue

2. I had previously had my screen replaced by WeFix and it was coming away from the casing again so I needed to replace the screen under warranty

So I called WeFix and explained these issues and was told the issues could be addressed and to make an appointment bring in the phone. I brought my phone in on the Sunday morning and this is what transpired:

1. They told me that actually they can't help me with encrypted data and only an iStore can help with that, so they gave me incorrect information on the phone which wasted my time, bearing in mind I had already waited 2 weeks to use my new phone because I couldn't get any data onto it

2. The technician told me that the phone screen would not be replaced under warranty because the phone was "bent" and that it would have to go back to the manufacturer (not an option as it is now out of guarantee). This is all fine and well and good IF I hadn't come to the WeFix store several months earlier with a phone screen needing to be fixed, that had several months before been fixed by another company who was now refusing to replace it under warranty because the phone was bent. I told the VERY SAME technician which I spoke to when I took my phone in recently that this was the problem and he said not a problem they can fix the screen and will stand by the warranty so if the screen comes away from the casing again, that they would replace it. No mention at the time of sending it back to the manufacturer or that they would in future NOT replace the screen. Basically, I was **** to, so that they could get my money in the short term.

In any case, I argued the point, and despite this technician then trying to change his tune to say "well maybe this ding on the phone casing is as a result of you dropping the phone which would invaludate the warranty" I eventually left the phone there to have the screen replaced and for them to see if any data could be retrieved.

I came back at 15:15 to collect my phone only to find their store shut up and no one there. It would have been helpful, when I left their store, to say, "we close at 15:00 so if you want your phone back today, come back before then." To make matters worse, they forgot to ask me for my pin - something which I think would be standard in their kind of operation - so when I called the next day to come collect my phone I was told this:

- Well you didn't give us your pin so we didn't do anything with your data

- You need to pay us R1400 to replace your screen

Since I needed my phone (having been without it for over 24 hours) I told them to forget the entire thing and collected my phone, with no work done and no screen replaced.

This company appears to be very willing to take your money when it suits them and make all kinds of promises about warranties and when it all comes down, they don't stand behind what they say and their customer service is appalling.

Will NEVER use them again; I've lost R1400 as a result of this.
