Poor service and no inclination to help
The first time I used iFix services I was impressed. As an Apple devotee I thought I had found a company who would be able to assist me with future problems. I was wrong! Due to power problems, my time capsule (an external disk drive manufactured by Apple) had problems with power. While the disk was intact the power supply was unstable. I took it to iFix's branch in Menlyn and they confirmed that they do fix them. However, their repairs were limited to software issues. Without providing me with any further assistance or advise they handed it back and said they cannot help. I asked to talk to the technician and was advised that he was to busy to talk - he would however e-mail me. I asked if she could tell me what the problem was, as she had not bothered to ask about it. She could not. I suggested that I thought it poor that the technician would not take 1 min to assist. Finally he came out of the back, and after explaining the problem he agreed to have a look and quote. During this discussion the manager did not intercede or assist. Even though I would be have been happy to pay for a quote. I may have to consider firms overseas to assist in future.
As per our telephonic discussion this morning, the technician opened the device to assess the parts. We found the part that was faulty, but our suppliers are unable to source the parts. Unfortunately we will not be able to help you at this stage, but will get in contact with you should the circumstances change in the near future.
