iFix Cavendish

Approximately a month ago I visited the iFix store in the Cavendish Shopping Mall, Claremont with my iPhone 6 plus because the screen kept flickering and apps kept crashing. On inspection by the technition I was advised that my screen needed replacing and thus would cost me R3,499.00. Although this was a ridiculous amount of money I had no choice but to proceed with the repair. It was ready in approx 1 hr and was thrilled that my phone was fixed. The phone worked very well up until last week when the issue started again. I returned the phone the next morning and was greeted by a nice lady which looked at my phone and agreed that it was once again giving the same issue. I was then confronted by the store manager whom quite abruptly said that it was an intermittent problem. I proceeded to tell her that it's been fine for a month and the night before it started to play up again however she insisted that it was a motherboard issue and not the screen itself. The discussion by now was becoming quite heated and in all honesty the manager did not have a clue what she was talking about and I said this is the same problem I was experiencing a month ago when your technician told me it was the screen. Had it been a motherboard issue, when the screen had been replaced it would have done exactly the same thing.

She then agreed to replace the screen with a new screen and also refund the money I had paid the previous month. She took the phone out the back and said she would not be a moment. 30 mins later she appears and says she has spoken to the owner of the shop and they cannot do the replacement. However they would give me another faulty screen and refund me my money.

By now my wife and I were fuming and I insisted that I speak to the owner of the store that she just spoke to. The owner refused to let me keep the screen in the phone and insisted she would give me another faulty/broken screen and then refund me. I've been in sales for years and have and had businesses of my own to know this was absurd and I demanded a refund and to keep the screen that is in there as I had no clue what they would do. I then questioned why I paid R3,500.00 for a screen and wanted proof that it was a genuine apple product. She then told me it's not but it's made in the same factory. I refused to believe her and told her we can either do this the easy way by giving me a refund or I walk out the shop and I will take this further.

I was then told that I would be refunded!!! Whilst waiting to have my money given back the manager produced a sheet that I had to fill out in order for a refund. However this refund would take up to a week to be returned to me. By this time we were tired and furious at the atrocious service. I finally got my refund a week later which is really bad business practice.

I have since taken my phone to another reputable reapair place and they have advised that the screen it was replaced was infact a cheap inferior product and really had no chance of surviving long and yet I paid R3500 when I could get the same screen from a cell phone repair shop for R1200. They also advised the motherboard is fine and that it is the screen that needs repalcing.

Please people becarefull of being ********** by iFix Cavendish as it seems their so called technicians don't know what they are talking about neiter are they selling good quality replacement parts.

It's a shame that people out there get ********** by people like this and it gives "iFix" as a whole a bad name.

Zeki

Good Morning Mrs. Helmi

I would like to formally apologise for the service that was provided at our Cavendish branch, this is not the way we do business and I acknowledge that we have most certainly failed you here.

I will be looking into the branch with urgency due to the fact that I too find it unacceptable that you had to wait so long for your refund after being given two different answers regarding the service.

I hope you would be able to give us another chance to remedy your opinion of the company, should you have any further issues or queries please do not hesitate to contact me directly.
