iBreak not iFix

A Family member had some trouble with the reception of an iPhone and brought it in for a repair at iFix in Northgate, she was told it is the Antenna and it would be repaired within 24 hours and after more than 24 hours and no phone, a call to iFix was made and it was said that the technician working on the phone was not in for the weekend so no feedback on the process of the repair could be made. After phoning back on Monday, the following week the phone was being tested, the following day she was informed that it was the network button which was faulty quickly followed by the network switch being the problem. Neither of these components exists in an iPhone. After all this back and forth, the source of the fault was placed on the motherboard so it was soaked in "diluted" acid overnight after which the phone was called "irreparable" which was confirmed by another independent repair shop. To top it off this fleet of engineering was charged to her at 199 ZAR

So to sum up: An iPhone which lost its signal (only cellular) was brought to iFix and returned as a Paperweight.

DO NOT GO TO IFIX NORTHGATE!!!

Good day Andreas,
The client was phoned back on Sa****ay 28 May and the client was informed that the technician that started the job is off for the weekend, but the technician on duty was busy with the job. The technician informed the client that the device was dead and the battery was not charging and that he will test the device with a new battery. The device was then tested and found that the signal was dropping. The technician also informed the client that we are still busy with the phone. We also tested the charging dock connector where the antenna is located with a new part and the problem still persisted. The board was also cleaned in an ultrasonic machine with IOS propyl alcohol (un1987) and not with diluted acid as stated. The problem still persisted after which we re-flowed the board on the antenna switch. After all the above was done, we informed the client that the phone is irreparable I have phoned the client and asked her how I can assist her, to find out more about her complaint, she explained and then informed me that she do not want to communicate with us any further as we are making excuses. I therefore did not push as the client made it clear that she does not want to communicate any further. She further informed me that her son is a technician and she will take this phone to another technician who will repair the phone, as we only make excuses. The technician informed me that the device still switched on with our new battery, and had the same functions as when the phone was booked in.Will it be possible to bring in the device and we will gladly assess the device while you are in the store, so that we can determine the status of the phone. I am also willing to refund the R199 for the labour on the phone.Looking forward to hear from you.
