Bad client servicing

After handing my phone in to have the battery replaced, my phone returned with the battery just as weak as it was previously and the home button gradually stopping to work, I returned the phone to iFix to sort it out. The technician said there was an issue with the battery which he will replace again and the home button was not the original button, meanwhile iFix is the first place to repair my phone so it should have been the original. He also said he could perform a reflow to fix the phone and there is a 50/50 chance of it fixing or breaking.

I took my phone to Vodacom to look at it and they said the phone’s home button was a generic and they can’t touch phones that have been tampered with. Furthermore, I returned to iFix asking them to look at it again to try and fix it as they were the ones who replaced the button. Nothing could be done so I agreed to do the reflow and take the risk of breaking my phone.

The following day I received an email that my phone had been fixed and I owe R399 for the new button. I asked iFix why I needed to pay if they only had to do a reflow and they just said they needed to change the button as well. I went to iFix the next day and the teller said the reflow cost R259 and they did not charge me, so I asked to rather pay for that as I agreed on them doing it even though it was for free. She then spoke to her manager and returned to say the reflow actually cost R899 so they are not charging me for that.

I suggested if they were client centric then they would charge me the cost price of the home button so they do not lose out or gain a profit on me. She spoke to her manager again and returned saying that I have two options, either paying full price for the home button or they can replace the home button with a broken one.

The manager did not even speak to me once after they knew they had an upset client, disgusted with their service and won’t suggest them to anyone. I was also surprised after I had heard good ratings for them.
