Avoid WeFix, sold me a “cellular” Apple Watch that doesn’t work, refuses to take responsibility
I purchased an Apple Watch SE (GPS + Cellular) model A2726 from weFix, expecting it to work with Vodacom’s mobile network, because that’s what was advertised. However, when I tried to set up cellular service, I got a message saying “This Apple Watch does not support Vodacom mobile service in this region.” Vodacom confirmed that the variant I have is not compatible due to regulatory / certification issues.
I checked the device’s regulatory screens and saw that it has UK/EU/Canada compliance markings—but no ICASA (South Africa) certification label or number—which strongly suggests it was imported and not certified for use locally. When I asked weFix to fix or refund this, they claimed it was “imported” and made vague statements about “some functions restricted,” but they refused to take responsibility or give me a proper remedy.
This is not just frustrating — it’s unfair. I paid good money for a product that does not deliver the promised function. I warn others: do not buy “cellular Apple Watches” from weFix unless they prove ICASA certification and guarantee it works with your local network.
Thank you for taking the time to send this through to us,
As stipulated in our initial response, the device is fully functional on the SA network; some functions are, however, permitted by SA networks, but that applies to ALL Apple Watches.
It is also to be noted that in your initial email, we did not receive any communication or request from you regarding a repair or refund. Instead, you requested assistance, which we provided. In addition, we also sent you a video with a step-by-step guide on how to activate the watch.
Furthermore, as per our response to you via email, we have arranged the collection of the unit, and we will repair or refund you accordingly when the unit arrives and has been assessed at our facility.
We will provide you with further feedback thereafter.
Thank you,
Regards,
weFix
