Apple owners beware

I booked my iPhone 6S in for a battery replacement on 29 March 2018. I was impressed with weFix as it only took them about an hour to do the replacement.

6 months down the line that impression turned to disgust. I noticed that phone's 3D touch stopped working. At 80% battery the phone would become so slow that it was unusable, it would also start randomly rebooting and then get stuck on the Apple log when it is switched on. Sometimes when it went back on the battery would suddenly jump to 3% and then stay there for a few hours until the phone dies. The battery only lasted for around 3 hours after it had been fully charged.

On 29 September (Exactly 6 months after weFix replaced the battery)I took my phone to iStore in Canal Walk where I was advised that Apple would not be repairing my phone or replacing the battery as they had found internal tampering with the device and a 3rd party battery had been installed.

I took my phone back to weFix regarding this issue on 4 October (6 months and 4 days after weFix replaced the battery). They advised that the diagnostic for the phone would be R179 and if I choose to accept the quote, only the quote's fee would apply. The next day I got a quote from weFix for R499 to replace the battery and a comment saying that the battery is swollen. They also advised that I would have to pay the R499 as the replacement was out of warrenty. I did NOT accept the quote that I received via e-mail, but received an email an hour after receiving the quote saying that I did.

This morning I went to pick up my phone, was advised that I had to pay the R499 and that I should not leave my phone plugged in over night (which I did NOT do in the first place.)

weFix can you please explain to me what low quality batteries you install in your customer's devices if they start swelling at 6 months?? The least you can do is advise your clients that the moment you work on their devices, the manufacturer will never touch it again.

I am disgusted with the service that I received from you and ,after reading the hundreds of similar complaints on your Facebook and HelloPeter page, I even more disgusted in knowing that I might be seeing you again in 6 months time. Seeing as this is the average time before people start experiencing issues after a battery replacement.

If my phone starts giving issues again within months I will visit your store AGAIN, if after that I will be sourcing other methods of repair.

The previous battery was in my phone for over 3 years, being charged overnight, every night and I had no issues. Your battery is installed for 6 months, not being charged overnight once and it starts swelling.

The worst part about this entire experience is that a battery replacement as iStore is cheaper than a R499 battery replacement at weFix.

Apple owners, beware.
