WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE IN THE INSURANCE INDUSTRY

Sent an email to ABSA insurance company on 18 December 2024 to update my HOC building policy and to date 09 January 2025 this has not been done. I have been with this company since 1988 now being a customer for 36 years. Have not experience good service whenever there is a claim they always try to find faults to reject claims. Majority of the excuses are not relevant to the item that was claimed. Recent claim excuse was a joke to compare dirty gutters to reject repairing ceiling that was damaged due to the gale force winds during the 11 to 13 November 2024. This ought to be repaired by ABSA insurance. Furthermore the company have been overcharging me on premiums for many years by escalating the building replacement cost.

Now the insurance company is delaying response to my email queries. I'm sure they are aware of false rejection and now that I also queried about the premiums. Yes by far this is the worst insurance company to deal with for services or prompt response.

There was no resolution to the claim made on the 15 November 2024 due to inclement weather during the days of 11 to 13 November 2024. The excuse given was the same to the original rejection. I did not claim for the roof tiles because I was not aware of the wind damages to the roof tiles. However in Absa rejection report was mention of roof tiles being damages. I claimed for the ceiling and it seems that I have to claim as per their report.

There was no evidence given to me on their findings. I do require these evidence instead of closing the complaint reference C-***6.

Noted the delay in their response:
Claim made 15/11/2024 and no response
emailed for response on 11/12/2024 - now 27 days ( 648 hours ) from claim date.
No response and sent a repeat email on 12/12/2024 - now 28 days ( 672 hours ) from claim date.
Absa insurance finally responded of the 12/12/2024 after repeated request for a response.
This to with a rejection to the claim that does not logically make sense.
There response time was over 672 hours.

You have not answered the reply. Please read my reply carefully. I require the evidence to your report and surely photographic evidence were taken. Places listed in writing as evidential proof of damaged tiles, deterioration and where wind went through. This is legally your (absa insurance) responsibility to sent to customer as requested. I don't know why this is being withheld and not transparent proof to your rejection letter.

The photographic evidence received does not relate to the actual damage caused by the gale wind storm. The photos were taken to show deterioration of the buildings. This will always be an issue with old buildings. Photos taken in positions not relating to ceiling damage. Don't know the experience and qualifications on the people that assessed. This should have been produced and from my experience Absa insurance do send inexperienced people to do the job. One example the guys that came to do the tarring patch, did not know how to handle the situation. They did know know what is crush filling before tarring. I was at home and had to show them how to do their job. So there's no excuses that professionals are sent to attend to the jobs. The ceiling according to their policy will be wind damage and they had to just put some nails in place and no replacing of ceiling. Sending the assessors must have caused absa much more than the job and also the hugh excess that is charged was much more than fixing the ceiling. The fence even though in a deteriorated condition, was standing straight. As per their policy impact damage or Removal of fallen trees will refer to my claim on the fence that was bent due to bending/falling of the trees from vacant land that the fence borders. Absa insurance supposed to fix this problem of removal of trees and straightening of fence. Here again the assessors were confused of what to be done and only took photographs. They could had removed the tree in the time.
When I have much more time on hand I will pursue this matter with absa dispute resolution and/or go the legal route even though the job to be done is minimal with minimal cost.
