Worst Communication Ever!

Yesterday I was called by someone from the ABSA Activate sales team to offer me a comparative quote for my vehicle insurance and possibly "help me save on my insurance premiums" The offered me comprehensive cover with car hire and credit short at a discounted premium of around R1,500.00. I requested the sales person to share the policy so I can review before I accept the cover, they told me that they can only share the policy once the cover is activated. Based on the premium, the cover, and the benefits I decided to accept so he can send me the policy. Upon receipt of the policy the first thing I noted was that the premium did not include the 20% discount they said they will give me as the premium on the policy is +R1,900.00. The second thing was that some of my personal details and my address was not correct. The third thing was that my previous claims history was omitted and the policy appeared as if I have never claim from an insurer. These are material details which impact my premium and the acceptance of my claims in future.

I've been trying to call Absa active for the past 24 Hours, I've been placed on hold for more than 20 minutes each time without my call being answered by anyone. I end up hanging up or running out of air and still have not managed to reach anyone at Absa Activate.

Yesterday I also sent an email to their Activateadmin@absa email address, only got a case number C-***5 and no response ever since.

Now I'm unable to cancel my current insurance because the Absa policy is not correct, my current insurer will deduct a premium on the 25th, and ABSA will also deduct a premium from my bank account for a policy that I intend to cancel.

I wish I had an opportunity to check other reviews before Absa did this to me, I'm frustrated at this point.

Hi Basani,

Thanks for your response,

My concern is that the debit order date for the policy is set for the 25th of every month, the first debit order is on this coming Monday. If the Absa Activate policy came with the premium and details we had agreed on with the sales agent, I would have cancelled my existing policy with my current insurer so that they do not also debit my account for the December premium on the 25th of November (Monday)

Now I have two insurance policy which are both set to debit my account on this coming Monday (25.11.2024)

What I would like to understand is what is going to happen with the ABSA debit order because the policy I got is not what I agreed to take, which is why I have not cancelled my insurance policy with my current insurer because I believe I still have a better deal with them. The Absa premium is likely to be more than what I'm currently paying after taking into account the correct address and the claims history that the Absa sales consultant has omitted on the policy.

Regards,

Sibusiso Buthelezi.

Good Day,

I resort to trying to again today as I would not receiving any feedback. After +25 minutes of holding I was received by a gentleman who assisted to transfer me to the cancellations department, we held together on the line for a further +12 until I was received by Cebisile Sithole with the cancellation.
At this point we are still uncertain regarding the debit of the premium to my account as it still has not went off my account but it's reflecting as sent on her end. She has asked me to monitor my account for the next 48 hours and call again if it does get debited to my account. In the meantime she has communicated to finance to also monitor my account and refund the premium to me once their certain that I was debited.
