Urgent Reconsideration of Claim: Misinterpretation of Policy and Lack of Investigation
Dear Insurer, I’m reaching out to express my deep frustration and disappointment over the handling of my recent claim. I’m seeking immediate clarification on key issues, especially the misinterpretation of policy exclusions and the lack of proper investigation into the incident. Your rejection letter cites the following exclusions: • “Loss or damage that is not sudden and unforeseen.” • “Loss or damage as a result of lack of servicing, maintenance, cleaning, repairing, gradual deterioration or wear and tear.” First, regarding “Loss or damage that is not sudden and unforeseen”: My roof was damaged due to individuals throwing bricks and stones at it—a completely unforeseen and sudden ******** act. This was not something that could have been anticipated, nor was it due to neglect or wear and tear. How, then, does this exclusion apply? This was a direct act of vandalism, which I documented and reported, providing the necessary police report. Secondly, I’m deeply concerned that the rejection letter made no mention of the police report or the case number I submitted. This omission is baffling, considering the police involvement directly supports that the damage was sudden, deliberate, and beyond my control. Further, I’m troubled by the lack of a thorough investigation. The representative sent to inspect the roof did not even remove items or conduct fingerprint analysis—basic steps that could have helped identify those responsible. If the goal is truly to support your policyholders, then investigating ******** acts should be a priority. This oversight not only affects me but leaves others at risk, perpetuating a culture where crimes go unaddressed, and homeowners suffer the consequences. How many more people will face the same dismissal due to “wear and tear” on damage that, in reality, is ********? While I am prepared to escalate this matter to the insurance ombudsman if needed, I am extending this opportunity for you to address these concerns directly. I am ready and willing to engage with you in good faith to seek a fair resolution. I expect a prompt and thorough review of my claim, along with clear actions to remedy these issues. Please respond without delay.
