Unfair business practice
On the 21st of June I was in a accident where I collided with a pothole and then hit the side of the road on the cars right side. This caused the front right tire to burst and the rear right tire to also be damaged. I lodged a claim with Absa insurance and the claim was allocated to a panel beater. There was damage to the right side of the bumper and the side of the front right side of the door. I was at the time unaware of the damage to my rear axle because I couldn’t see the damage inside the car, I could only see the damage that was visible , so because I couldn’t see that the axle on the right side was damaged I did not mention in my incident report, which is understandable it is something inside. Instead I only laid focus on the front. The car was then taken for repairs which took more than a month. The panel beater picked up that the rear axle was damaged and reported same to Absa insurance. the insurance rejected this claim and stated that it was not damaged from the incident. The car was purchased in March and the incident was in June and that is the only way the axle could have been damaged. I took the car back to VW to check if the damage was because of a wear and tear and was advised that it was due to an accident. The insurance didn’t pay for my damaged tires which I believe they should pay because they were damaged due to the accident. Insurance is now refusing to fix the axle and sending me from pillar to post. May you kindly assist as I feel that I have been treated unfairly by the insurance company. If I could see inside the car I would have picked this up but I couldn’t open the car inside, I really don’t think this is a fair practice. Please assist. Thank you
