Unauthorised cancellation of Extended warranty cover with permission/notification
I bought a vehicle and got it financed through Absa. A year has passed or more than just a year as my car was still financed, I decided to take an extended warranty through Absa Innovation.
The policy became in force in June 2021.
In April 2022 thereabout, I decided to settle my car. It is now August 2022 I am having mechanical trouble with the car and I try to claim from the insurance only to be told that my insurance was cancelled by Absa.
I do not have a returned debit order to warrant the cancellation. I have also not been notified of an early termination resulting from my settlement of the car.
I am of the view that I am being treated unfairly and need the ombudsman to look at this. I did not take cover at the time when I was getting my car financed and to just abruptly cancelling my cover is inconsiderate as I should have been offered the opportunity to look for another insurer had they notified me of their intention to cancel.
I need the insurance to step in now that I have a claim to make and not to be given an excuse which I find unacceptable.
