Refund half my premiums

I bought my car 2020 and I took out the insurance with Absa Idirect. Was paying R1779 for my premiums with an access of R5000 of which I felt it was too high but because it was my first car and I needed peace of mind they promised me so I agreed. I had a claim, all of a sudden my access was increased on the stop to R7000 of which I was unable to pay. So I decided to fix the car on my own while still paying their premiums. A year later my premium was increased to R2275 without any explanation. I tried calling them to find answers but I truly struggled to find find them, even emails where not responded. I still feel like I need to be refunded half of my premiums I paid for the period I thought I was insured with them.
