Poor service
I have a Toyota Hilux 2017 model, I changed the facelift to the 2020 model. Upon changing I phoned Absa idirect to inform them about the changes my premium increased upon letting them know. I even sent pictures to Absa idirect of the car. On the 31st of December 2022 my car was involved in a car accident the right side was affected (headlamp, bumper, and bonnet). It was towed to a nearby center around Sandton. A few days later it was taken to Renew It Sandton and the person it was assigned to is Yaseen.
Then an assessor (Dirk) from the insurance was sent to go and assess the damages. He authorized it on the 12th of January 2023. A few days later Yaseen phoned me to say even the left-hand side headlamp was affected, I phoned Dirk to let him know. He went there to assess the other headlamp and said 'because your left hand headlamp is a 2nd hand I will only authorize 50% of it and you will pay the other 50%'.
Dirk said to Yaseen he must try to get a 2nd hand wiring harness. Yaseen did that and told me he failed to get it. Yaseen explained to me that it's difficult getting a 2nd hand-wiring harness. A few days later I phoned Dirk and he said 'I am not going to entertain the wiring of your car, you have to go back to the person who installed your headlamps to assist you.
On the 16th of February 2023, I phoned Renew It and spoke to Elam and asked her if I could bring my auto electrician to put the headlamps on before they assemble the car. She agreed to it. On the 17th I phoned my Auto electrician all the way from Tembisa to Sandton Renew it.
I and my Auto electrician went to Renew it on the 17th of February 2023 and found that they ordered the wrong headlamps. I explained to them that these headlamps are not ones I had, they brought in the old ones to compare and found that I had xenon and they bought standard lights.
I asked Yaseen who is going to take responsibility for my Auto Electricians' time and my time. He said 'he is not gonna take responsibility for that as I am wrong, I was supposed to inform them about the headlamps' and he further said 'I was not supposed to bring my auto electrician there because I am interfering with their work'
Now out of my pocket, I have paid the auto electrician R800 for wasting his time. And again after they buy the correct lights I have to again pay the auto electrician to come and do the wiring.
None of them (Yaseen and Dirk) wants to take the responsibility for my loss.
My question is when Absa increased my premium what was the reason if I have to contribute when the car is being fixed? The 50% betterment for the left hand light makes no sense to me, I understand the wiring part of it. And why Renew it refused to compensate my auto electrician for wasting our time. My number ***
Thank you Absa for quickly attending to my complaint and reimbursing me. I was considering moving to another insurer but not anymore. Thank you once again.
