Poor communication

On the 18 December 2024 I requested Absa insurance to update my policy realizing that the company was over insuring my property by approximately R*** and thus the high premiums.

They did not update and on their late response on the 03 January 2025, I was sent a building estimate cost form. I did fill in the form with the calculation and emailed on the 05 January 2025. I did not receive any response on updating my policy despite numerous emails to Absa insurance until I finally realized its best to writing a review. After the review on the 09 January 2025 I received feedback on the 17 January 2025 and that response was 8 days delayed. I was sent a quotation schedule. Why? when I was supposed be be sent the rates on the update values to accept or remain as is.

The premiums don't make sense as follows: Quotation schedule premium's are R1367.82 for building value R3 568,012 Currently paying premiums of R1299.23 for building value R4 723 530

Does the above seem correct? I was also emailed on 20 January 2025 that I was sent a reduced sum assured. What does it mean reduced sum insured when a correctly calculated building estimate form was emailed to Absa insurance Require Absa insurance to explain this poor communication.

Dear Rezona Louw

It is now 2 days and no feeddback/resolution provided. No contact made via email or telephonically. The response from Absa insurance is now over 50 hours to its customer service. It seems the only way to communicate is through this platform and hope this is not ignored. My explanation on the premiums is simple and do the mathematics. Look at all the past years correspondence on premiums and estimated building values to get some understanding. Awaiting your reply

I did read the email and this does not answer my question. The quotation you sent me is the one in question as not making sense. Please read the review again as previously mentioned. I require an explanation how is this possible. How do you calculate. Go to the previous records as mentioned.

I did give absa insurance plenty of chances to correct their incorrect policy schedule and the over inflated premiums and building value. The communication with their Absa adminHOC was still poor, not understanding when given in writing. 48 days later telephonically I made them understand with explanation on their calculation and referring to there previous documents. Being with them for 36 years, I did give absa insurance a fair chance. I had to move away from this insurance company realizing that I constantly had problems in the past and to avoid stressful situations in the future. I have since taken building insurance from another company that gave me excellent service in the past and their rate, excess values were far better with much more added insurance benefit than I had with Absa. My saving is Hugh and above this, I avoid dealing with the poor communication and poor service problems.
