On going electricity issues caused by Absa contractors.

I would not recommend Absa insurance to anyone. They make you hold forever, promise to call you back and nothing happens. Emails are being ignored and issues are not getting address.

My complaint is regarding a claim I made in 2019 to Absa insurance. In March 2019 I laid a claim (no. ***) with ABSA, after my house was vandalised. Among other things, the electric wiring was st********** and the geyser was ******.

ABSA approved my claim and then they sent their contractor SABF who put in a new electric box, geyser, and installed electric wiring around the whole house. At the time I was happy about that. I trusted Absa to send people who know what they are doing and this is also the reason why I didn't opt for the claim money to be paid to me directly. The wiring was in and it worked properly. I was not aware that it was not done properly. They didn't sent an assessor to check if everything was up to standard.

Then in September 2020 I had problems with my electricity, it was tripping at the outside box. The plugs were not working. and I called ABSA again. An assessor was sent to inspect, he confirmed that the initial wiring is not up to compliance and standard. There is poor workmanship, which is related to my first claim (***).

They gave me a new claim number and asked SABF to come and fix the problem. I was not happy about that because most of the findings from the assessor that was sent were ignored. But they managed to fix the plugs and the trippings stopped. However, I still sent an email to them and told them to address the other issues. But I didn't get a response from Absa.

Refer to the attachments and the email I sent in my first email. You will notice that the wires by the electric box were not done accordingly, there are tapes that should not be there. The wiring above the ceiling is a mess and it not in a tube as per compliance.

Please also note that the contractor's registration number does not exist, which means that when I signed upon completion in 2019, I was signing to something that does not exist.

ABSA's contractors have caused a huge hazard in my house, and have impacted my mental and financial well-being.

Unfortunately there is no form of correspondence between ABSA and myself. I only have the emails that I sent to them, and they are always ignored. They do not call me to address my issues. I will also forward them in separate email.

Currently my earth leakage switch inside the box has popped or blown says the recent assessor for my recent claim. There are plugs, switches and lights that do not work. I am anticipating other problems in other areas of my house because the electricity that was installed is not up to standard. I have had this insurance since 2007 and this is the first time I experience problems with my electricity like this. Clearly something is wrong and it needs to be fixed ASAP.

I suggest new wiring from a qualified electrical contractor. This will resolve the ongoing problem caused by SABF contractors.

My claim is not rejected. It is just not getting resolved from a root cause. ABSA keeps calling SABF to come and fix the problem, because initially they were paid in 2019. They are clearly not qualified to do electricity and I am left to suffer the consequences .They do not know what they are doing.

Thank you in advance for all your help.
