Insurance claim taken lightly
On the 29th of November, at around 18:35pm, I logged a complaint with ABSA where I experienced a water pipe burst. My entire house was flooded.
I have built in cupboards in all three rooms including carpets which was damaged. The water level was above my skirting in all three rooms. 30 mins later ABSA sent out a plumber to fix the issue but that's where it stop.
We then moved all our belongings to the dining, kitchen and lounge area and that's where we are currently sleeping.
They left me for 5 consecutive without any consultant calling me. After calling ABSA 11 times on the 4th of December, they sent an assessor to assess the damages. The moment he stepped inside my house he immediately stated that the house is emitting a strong odor of mould. He was spot on and we noticed mould was present on the still wet, floors.
He stated that all carpets and cupboards needs to be removed and ABSA should treat this matter as urgent. Two days ago, my wife and son were taken to our local GP and was diagnosed with a chest infection. As the head of our house, I advised them to rather move to my in laws until the matter is addressed.
I contacted the stakeholder, who was put in charge of our case and he honestly mentioned that ABSA has not stated or advised the way forward. Why am I paying over R8000 for car and home insurance?
What's the purpose of insurance then? To this date, I have spend R370 on airtime. When the call dies, I have to go through the entire process again and explain myself all over.
I have received a reference number sometime in last week but not one consultant has contacted me. My house is a total wreck and my family is not with me all because ABSA INSURANCE takes matters like this lightly.
I am done with ABSA! I refuse to wait another 48hours before someone will email or call me to explain my situation all over again after they have a reference number.
ABSA INSURANCE IS PATHETIC!
