I regret insuring my car with ABSA ACTIVATE
I regret taking car insurance with Absa Activate. On the 04th Oct 2024 I was involved in a car accident that resulted in my car being a write-off, from the moment I called them from the scene its was a night-mare. They took over an hour to get approve to tow my car. I logged a claim with them that same evening on their app (which is also not user friendly). I received an SMS on 08 Oct 2024 informing that Esther Mabasa had been assigned to deal with my claim (I have never spoken to her till this day or received even a mere email). On the 10th Oct the assessor appointed to assess my car informed me that my car would be a write-off. I called 14th Oct to find out what is the next step and to complain about the lack of service from Esther. I was the appointed another consulted Tebogo Madira, I was happy thinking there would be progress. 5 day later I received an email from Tebogo informing me I need to renew my License disc, granted I was only able to send them my renewed license disc on 25th Oct 2024, which Tebogo acknowledged receiving. I've emailed for an update no answer. I call now and was on the line for a good 15 mins before my call was answered by Palesa, who then went on to put me on hold for another 20 minutes (to go an enquire from Tebogo on his progress on this claim). I eventually hung up with no way forward. This is the worst service I have ever received and I would not recommend this insurance company to anyone (no matter how stranded they are).
On their website they tell you they will save you time (I can tell you for free there is no such thing). "No more call centres and complicated forms", well now I understand why they have this statement on your website, there's no one at their call center that is equipped to help clients.
So my car was written off on the 10th Oct 2024 and it took Absa Activate the whole of Oct to finally settle my claim and pay me out on 30th Oct, so I was happy to finally have this unpleasant experience behind me. Yesterday 25th Nov I received a notification from my bank that Absa Activate had debited my account again (mind you they debited me in Oct as well, even though I did not drive most of Oct- all good and well not a problem). I called to find out why they had debited my account and the consultant (Nqobile) told me they hadn't received an instruction from the claims department that my claim had been finalized and that they needed to close my policy.
I wonder how long it will take for them to wake-up to the fact that they are debiting me for a car that has been written off.
It never ends. ABSA should just stick to banking clearly insurance is not their strongest point.
