HOC Claims Registration Department - Extremely Disappointing.

I am very disappointed with the service from ABSA regarding my building insurance claim. After the huge storm in Pretoria, I logged a claim, completed all the required paperwork, received a reference number, and followed up with several emails. Unfortunately, nothing has been done.

The claim has been sitting with the ABSA HOC Claims Department “for validation” since 14/12/2025, with no progress or meaningful feedback. This lack of communication and urgency is extremely frustrating, especially during a time when assistance is genuinely needed.

I have been paying for this insurance for over 20 years, and when the time finally comes to rely on it, I feel completely let down. I expected far better service, support, and responsiveness from a bank of this size.

I hope ABSA takes this feedback seriously and improves how they handle claims, because long-standing customers deserve better

Thank you for your email.I am not satisfied with the outcome of the assessment regarding my insurance claim, as no proof was provided to justify the rejection. I had submitted photos showing the main roof in good condition, the invoice for maintenance done by a qualified professional approved to work for insurance companies, and video footage of the hail storm.Despite this evidence, the claim was rejected without evidence. I request that my claim be reconsidered based on the documentation I have provided. Should this not be resolved satisfactorily, I will escalate the matter further in accordance with your process.

Dear Sir/Madam, Thank you for your email and for reviewing my claim again. The entire roof was repaired by a qualified, insurance-approved contractor not long ago. All of this, including the invoice, was sent to you. I would like to clarify that I did provide footage clearly showing the main roof and invoices provided, during the routine maintenance. I therefore do not agree that the decision is based on a full and accurate assessment of the evidence provided. Could you please supply a detailed written report explaining:
  • Which specific photos or evidence you are relying on to determine wear and tear,
  • Why the footage and information I provided of the main roof were not accepted, and
  • Any photos or proof that support your conclusion.

Please also note that there were multiple roof areas affected, not just one section, and there were also broken windows, which were part of the damage discussed and shown during the inspection. Before the case is closed on 12 January 2026, I formally request this detailed report and supporting evidence so I can properly understand and respond to the decision. I look forward to your response. Kind regards,
LV
