Fias Act breach and horrible customer experience
Due to the fact that I am typing all of this, I won't talk about the terrible experience my father received in Jefferys Bay branch. And my assumption is that he was treated in that manner simple because He cannot speak English and Afrikaans. He has been in and out of that branch so many times being told to come back the other day or the following week. It's so annoying once I start to think deeper about it. When I requested to speack to a consultant, a guy called Shamiel couldn't even be ashamed of lying to me and say all Consultants who are suppose to help my Father went to a bank's function, they are off, so my father cannot be helped and he must come back the following week. The guy who said "I can even give you my physical address" when I requested his Names. I will leave this one here, but you must know, the way you treat our parents it's so annoying. You first look at their colour of skin, go to their language, then their education, and then decide how to evil treat them.
Here is the major, because I believe you have breached Law intentionally. You have deliberately violate FAIS act, the only supreme Act that regulates your conduct on selling your financial products, its so disgraceful. Referred by a friend, I checked Absa funeral plan options from Absa website, and I too made a decided to financially assist my parents to open one. Acting from my advice and instruction, my father went to Jeffreys Bay brank to open that funeral plan. He is 65 years old, a Xhosa man who cannot speak English nor Afrikaans, and he never went to school. This is a vulnerable client, based on age, language and formal education, with no financial products knowledge. The directives were simple and straightforward, "in that funeral plan policy, cover should not be less than R30k, and the premium must not exceed R500.00. Give them your Standard bank account number for premium deductions. Then request contract printout so that I can see what has been done".
Remember these are my parents and I need to guide them, make things easier for them, even for the consultant who is going to help them. I further need to protect them from banking industry vultures that are always ready to take advantage of the vulnerable clients. To our surprise when viewing bank statement we found out there were two debit orders from Absa, one is for Funeral plan as per contract, the second one we don't know what is it for. It have something related to road, and my assumption is that it's related with accidental cover policy.
We requested Funeral plan policy, we get something extra that we are unaware of it, what happened with your disclosure policies and compliance with Fais Act requirements. Now we are struggling to even get answers to that, instead we always told to come back the other day or the following week. I thought we were dealing with a sound financial institution, top bank in the country, not a ****a shop.
I request you quickly resolve this issue before it goes too far. I am a bit concerned now, if how many people are victim of this kind of conduct. If you wish to contact me you can try ***
