disappointed and inconvenienced
I was involved in a MVA on the 22nd of September 2019 18:55. a towing company arrived on the scene within minutes, and as he attempted to tow my car I said to him he should wait so I call the insurance. I called Absa and the spoke to a lady who said I should hand over to the towing driver who had presented himself as "heavy D towing", I handed over and he spoke to the insurance. When he handed the phone back, he had already dropped the line, so after some minutes I realized Absa hasn't sent the tow reference. I redialed the last dialed number and this time King price answered, to my surprise I asked if King price underwrites for Absa and the tow operator "Kwena" said they are the same thing. i quckly hung up and went back to my car and dialed the number on Absa's sticker on the rear screen, this time Absa picks up I requested to be called back since I had no sufficient airtime left, the lady called back immediately, she took my details and requested to speak to the towing guy. The tow truck driver now presents himself as "Kwena's Towing" and hands over the phone back to me Absa confirmed he can tow and sends me a reference number, he then suggests that they have a Panel beater and I should tell the insurance to let them repair, my response was "let the insurance decide where they will repair". The car was towed to Kwena's yard in South africa street/crescent in Tsutsumani Alexandra, 2090. Then I headed for the police station where i reported the accident and got an AR number. I was at ease now because I had done all that needs to be done as per the insurer, I tried calling to register a claim Monday the 23rd of September and was told the claims department at Absa just closed shop at 16:30. Tuesday I called Kwena to ask where my car was moved to and he said he took it to a panel beater in Sandton and i asked for the name of the panel beater, he said he will email me details including my tow slip, i waited for about 30 mins and called him again but he never took my calls anymore. Wednesday I called ABSA and registered the claim and I ask of the whereabouts of my car and to this day, the 2nd of October 2019 Absa does not know where my car is. i have been talking to Absa over the past week and they also included to the emails sent "ITU ASSIST" who facilitates their towing but the whereabouts of my car are still a mystery and my car has been assessed yet. I requested for a courtesy car since the repairs would have taken about 8 working days from Absa, who notified ITU Assist's "George" who is now ignoring my emails. My premiums are up to date with Absa, I don't know where my car is and I'm travelling on taxi's since Absa and its service providers are failing me.
