Chances for ABSA again and again with no progress
I had an insurance claim, that I tried to solve. After writing emails to all the parties at ABSA no assistance, support or clearly defined solutions were shared. I mean ABSA assigned a person to me that until today has not got in contact with me once.
Finally, I made a complaint on HelloPeter, during this time I requested the Ombudsman details. The details were never provided. A Basani Hlungwane, responded to me once, and informed me the problem will be handled immediately. Then I never heard from Basani ever again. This person was also to be present in the online meeting, however was not available, no reason for the absence was provided.
After about 2 weeks of the complaints a Lydia Madileng, requested to pay the little insurance money over. (a 10% of the total estimated damage). I explained that the issue and that my questions were never answered. Lydia, now 3 weeks later never answered me. No explanation, no reasons, no solutions – nothing. Well nothing from ABSA is the entire business.
Lastly, (about a month after the damage to my property was done), and I complaint various times (as seen above) to various parties, Ntladi Mthimunye emailed me. He requested an online meeting. During this meeting, he did not read my emails, was not aware of my complaints, and worse of all he didn't acknowledge me as the owner. He was so unprepared for the meeting he didn't even know that I was the owner of the property who made the complaint.
Again, I let this go, and I believed ABSA was surely better than this (I only wanted the issue to be resolved). Ntladi Mthimunye then said he'll arrange for a contractor to go out, and do a new inspection on the property (I was happy with this). All parties came to an agreement to meet each other. Again ABSA disappointed me, contractors simply did not show up. Then they finally showed up, they intimidated my tenant, that the owner demanded them to go in! (This is taking my name and abusing my personal information for your own gain). I am shocked to hear this kind of approach, you have no right to mention my name to my tenants without my written consent.
Again ABSA failed with taking responsibility, correcting the complaint, and treating your customers fairly.
To Ntladi Mthimunye I sent an email (a week and a half ago), he said he was going to see how ABSA can reimburse me. (this was for cost on repairs I had to make, to ensure my tenant’s safety. And ABSA failed to answer my emails and concerns). Your ability to communicate from ABSA is in such a poor state. Ntladi haven't even answered me on the mail. Not even acknowledging receiving it, thanking me, or telling me he'll get back to me.
We will have to escalate this matter to the ombudsman as a matter of urgency.
No longer can I deal with this lack of communication from ABSA.
